The Chief Artisan Grade A oversees the maintenance and repair of roads construction equipment, providing administration services and managing district plant and equipment workshops. The ideal candidate requires a National Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, 3 years of experience as an Artisan Foreman, and strong technical, project management, and report writing skills.

**Requirements:**
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess a Grade 12 Certificate, complemented by a 3-year National Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (NQF level 6, as recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority). In addition, a minimum of 3 years of experience as an Artisan Foreman is required, along with a valid driver's license.
**Key Skills and Competencies:**
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of automotive systems, as well as mechanical and electrical components. Familiarity with power machines, hydraulic systems, and electrical and mechanical analogues is essential. Additionally, knowledge of relevant legislation, Public Service Regulations, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and computer-aided technical applications is required. Strong technical and report writing skills, project management abilities, and technical design and analysis knowledge are also necessary.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of existing manuals, standards, drawings, and procedures by incorporating new technology and ensuring quality assurance in line with specifications. This may involve providing inputs and collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
**Reporting and Financial Management:**
As part of this role, the Chief Artisan Grade A will be responsible for compiling and submitting reports as required, monitoring expenditure to ensure efficient cash flow management, and liaising with relevant bodies on technical and related matters.
