Jakkalsvlei Private Cellar, nestled in the picturesque Garden Route near Mossel Bay, invites applications for a Harvest Assistant for the 2027 harvest season. This position requires a proactive, detail-conscious individual who is dependable and punctual, capable of thriving in a team environment and managing high-pressure situations — all crucial for this role.
Contract Period: January to April 2027
Duties will encompass, but are not limited to: • Supporting the winemaking team in daily cellar operations. • Maintaining sanitation and hygiene within the cellar. • Managing fermentation processes and related tasks. • Operating a forklift for the loading and unloading of pallets. • Conducting recordkeeping activities. • Collecting sugar samples from the vineyard. • Performing all other responsibilities associated with the position.
Required Qualifications and Experience: • A diploma or degree in Viticulture and Oenology is advantageous. • Prior harvest or cellar experience is beneficial. • A valid driver's license is mandatory (forklift license and reliable personal transport are pluses). • Readiness to engage in physical labor and work extended hours, including weekends.
