Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team in the laboratory to ensure the quality of our seed potatoes. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards for our growers' products.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following

• A Grade 12 certificate - Preference will be given to those with a BSc degree or National diploma in Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Botany, Genetics, or similar relevant fields - Minimum of two years practical experience using ELISA in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Botany, or Genetics-related backgrounds - Computer literacy and proficiency in Excel - Willingness to undergo training - Experience in the laboratory or any science field is advantageous

The candidate must also be

• Honest and loyal - Hardworking with strong communication skills - Willing to work extended hours - Possess a clear criminal record - Demonstrate good administration skills

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare test samples and conduct routine physical and chemical tests to ensure conformity with specifications - Analyze qualitative and quantitative test results, recording and computing pertinent data - Maintain laboratory equipment and order replacement parts as needed - Conduct virus and bacterial testing on seed potatoes - Prepare buffers and execute tests, processing and publishing results - Collaborate closely with the on-site Technologist - Handle all samples with confidentiality and integrity, safeguarding test results - Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports as necessary - Offer administrative support - Deliver high-quality service to internal clients

Skills Required

• Good administration skills - Excellent communication skills in both English and Afrikaans - Planning and organizational skills - Strong relationship management
