Permanent Winemaker Position at Slanghoek Wine Cellar Sectors: Agriculture Reference: M5794 Reference: M5794

Slanghoek Wine Cellar, nestled in the picturesque Slanghoek Valley near Rawsonville, seeks a seasoned Winemaker to bolster their team. The successful candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of the winemaking process, a hands-on approach, and a strong commitment to producing high-quality wines. Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, the role involves (but is not limited to): overseeing the entire winemaking process from grape procurement to the final product, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to production standards, managing cellar staff and production tasks, continuously improving winemaking and production processes, maintaining precise production and administrative records, and identifying ways to enhance efficiency and product quality. Compliance with ISO 22000, HACCP, IPW, and WIETA standards is mandatory, along with maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized cellar environment. Collaborative work with the broader production team is essential for smooth and efficient cellar operations. Additional duties may arise as required.

Essential qualifications include a relevant degree in Viticulture or Oenology, practical experience in a commercial cellar, preferably with white wine production, a strong grasp of the winemaking process, familiarity with cellar production and quality-control procedures, knowledge of ISO 22000, HACCP, IPW, and WIETA requirements, robust administrative and reporting skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a valid driver's license.
