Job Overview: Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a proficient Cashier for their Claremont store, located in Cavendish Square. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering top-tier customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a premium shopping experience. Accurate recording of transactions within the Dis-Chem operating system is paramount, adhering to stringent company policies and standard operating procedures with a zero-tolerance policy towards inaccuracies and fraud.

Requirements

Essential: - Grade 12 / Matric - Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations - Proficiency in computer usage, particularly MS Office - Excellent numerical skills - Strong command of the English language - Basic customer service experience - Ability to work flexible retail hours

Job Description: - Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service guidelines and procedures - Build professional relationships with customers - Report complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Adhere to hourly customer turnover rates - Stay informed about current sales and promotions - Maintain a safe environment for colleagues and customers - Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow responsibly - Ensure all voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor - Exchange and accept returned merchandise as authorized - Process all types of payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.) - Handle loyalty card transactions, including partner programs - Secure cash in drop safes as per Dis-Chem SOPs - Maintain strict security for personal codes and passwords - Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts - Keep all money safely secured within the till - Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management - Report suspicious behavior promptly to management - Address inquiries regarding store merchandise - Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures

Competencies: - Comprehensive knowledge of operating cash registers and managing cash drawers - Skills in processing sales, refunds, and payments - Strong command of English (written and oral) - High attention to accuracy and detail - Presentable demeanor - Emotional intelligence and social awareness - Accountability and problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze basic reports - Trustworthiness and honesty - Effective time management
