We are in search of a seasoned Control Systems Engineer with robust expertise in both operational and design processes. In this capacity, you will be tasked with designing and optimizing control systems, ensuring adherence to international standards and safety regulations, especially in the mining industry.
Requirements / Qualifications
• Degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent NQF qualification in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering • Minimum of 5 years of practical operational and design experience, with proficiency in relevant engineering design software • Capacity to apply technical theories to hands-on projects • Previous experience in or familiarity with the mining industry • Demonstrated success in control system design • Thorough knowledge of international control system regulations and specifications • Practical experience with PLC and SCADA systems • Experience with Rockwell and Siemens platforms • Familiarity with Schneider Control Expert or Aveva Systems Platform (Wonderware) – Official Aveva/Wonderware certification is highly advantageous • Strong understanding of, or exposure to, the Mine Health and Safety Act
Responsibilities
• Develop cost-effective solutions that meet client specifications • Potential for professional growth and development within the industry • Prepare detailed designs for approved solutions and supervise development • Design system architectures for software deployment • Create industrial communication networks, including Ethernet, fibre, and Profinet • Write custom PLC programs to meet operational requirements • Develop SCADA and HMI applications according to client specifications • Build simulation applications for functional testing and user training • Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure complete system functionality • Implement the final solution on-site and optimize performance • Provide training and guidance to clients on operating systems within design limits • Deliver ongoing post-project system support as required • Be available for standby duties under service level agreements
