Status Staffing is on the lookout for a proficient Electrician to bolster the team of our client located in Bellville. The ideal candidate should possess an N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, a Red Seal certification, and a 3 Phase Wireman’s License. Proficiency in wiring, PLC programming, electrical drawings, and electrical maintenance is mandatory. Additional experience in PLC installation and programming is a plus. Duties
Main Job Functions
- Supervise production staff and manage their daily activities - Cost new designs and develop Bill of Materials (BOM), process data, and manufacturing layouts - Regularly evaluate raw material prices from suppliers and sub-contractors - Approve orders for bulk materials based on stock levels and forecasts - Monitor quality costs and conduct final inspections and approvals of products - Ensure personnel are adequately trained and qualified; arrange for necessary training - Improve personnel skills and promote self-discipline in line with company policies - Foster effective communication and coordination throughout the company - Ensure staff adhere to fixed targets - Handle and preside over disciplinary actions and hearings - Manage Human Resources functions including recruitment, contract termination, and staff planning - Address union-related issues and maintain positive industrial relations - Keep accurate personnel records - Ensure a safe workplace, chair safety meetings, and investigate injuries and incidents
Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure staff use issued safety equipment, wear company overalls, and maintain them - Investigate injuries on duty and implement preventative measures - Report safety hazards to the Production Director - Attend safety meetings, conduct inspections, and compile reports - Oversee plant electrical maintenance, including checking and repairing electrical tools, machinery, and DB boards - Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations - Address all safety non-conformances immediately; escalate unresolved issues - Develop process optimization to meet safety standards
Stock Taking
- Monitor daily stock levels of consumables and wires for work-in-progress - Assist with monthly stock take on the last Saturday - Count and record products, equipment, assets, production tools, machinery, raw materials, WIP, consumables, and parts
Housekeeping
- Ensure staff clean workstations and restrooms daily - Organize the flow of materials and parts to avoid bottlenecks
Special Needs
- Design and program PLCs and touch screen control systems (TSC) - Design and test switchboards and chassis - Perform electrical design and drafting using CAD, Revit, and SketchUp; update wiring diagrams and documents - Willing to work extra hours as needed to meet project deadlines - Own transport required
