An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client's renowned construction team in Cape Town. This position offers the chance to oversee commercial and financial aspects of various construction projects from project award to final account settlement, while offering commercial guidance to project teams and mentoring Junior Quantity Surveyors.
Key Responsibilities: - Direct the commercial and financial management of multiple construction projects from project commencement to final account closure. - Manage project budgets, cost controls, cash flow forecasts, profitability, and prepare monthly cost reports. - Source, appoint, and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and material procurement. - Draft and submit interim valuations, variation orders, payment certificates, and final accounts. - Handle contractual matters, including JBCC and NEC contracts, claims, and extensions of time. - Prepare accurate monthly management information for project stakeholders. - Collaborate with clients, consultants, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors on commercial and contractual issues. - Provide cost control, procurement, and commercial advice to ensure projects meet budget and schedule. - Identify and manage commercial risks while adhering to company procedures, reporting requirements, and industry regulations. - Offer technical support, mentorship, and guidance to Junior Quantity Surveyors and contribute to the enhancement of commercial processes.
Requirements: - A National Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying. - Minimum of 8 years of experience in the construction industry with strong exposure to commercial, contractual, and financial management. - CCS/Candy certification. - JBCC and NEC contract training. - SACQSP registration is advantageous. - Strong numeracy, financial management, problem-solving, and analytical skills. - Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and industry practices. - Proven expertise in subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and commercial negotiations. - Extensive experience in interim valuations, variation orders, EOT claims, and final account settlements. - Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, cost reports, and profitability. - Excellent relationship management skills with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors. - Proficiency in CCS/Candy, BuildSmart, and quantity surveying software systems. - Thorough understanding of JBCC and NEC construction contracts.
