**Position Overview:**
Are you adept at interpreting engineering drawings and pricing components while ensuring timely delivery from suppliers? An international maritime technology and engineering firm is seeking a technical purchaser who is well-versed in both technical specifications and commercial costs. Your role will involve sourcing components, equipment, spares, raw materials, and services for projects spanning dredging, offshore, mining, and defence sectors.
**Eligibility Criteria:**
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or sourcing, with a focus on technical or strategic procurement. - A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. - Proficiency in mechanical estimating, proposals, tenders, or project costing. - Competence in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs). - Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing pricing, quality, and delivery. - ERP experience and advanced Excel skills. - Relevant experience in heavy engineering, manufacturing, mining, marine, fabrication sourcing, capital equipment, or project procurement is highly desirable. Familiarity with local and international suppliers is mandatory. - IFS experience is preferred; SAP experience is advantageous. A CIPS or other recognized procurement qualification is also sought.
**Responsibilities:**
- Solicit and compare quotations, evaluate suppliers, negotiate terms, and place orders for technical items. - Utilize your estimating skills to review costs, support tenders and proposals, and identify more cost-effective sourcing options. - Plan for long-lead items, monitor orders and deliveries, manage supply risks, and maintain accurate procurement records in the ERP system. - Collaborate closely with Engineering, Projects, Workshop, Logistics, Finance, Quality, and Operations to ensure the timely arrival of the right items that meet required specifications.
