Minimum Requirements
Grade 12. Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Animal Production, Poultry Production, or a related field will be advantageous. Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership type of role within the broiler breeder sphere. Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport. Computer literacy (MS Office). Good communication, leadership, and people management skills. Proficiency in English is essential in this position Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and after-hours when operationally required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Farm Manager with the daily management of farm operations. Manage all production related activities ensuring consistent compliance with standard operating procedures in order to achieve optimal production output efficiencies. Strong analytical skills relating to breeder technical aspects. Supervise, coach, and develop farm employees. Monitor bird health, welfare, and performance. Ensure compliance with biosecurity, hygiene, animal welfare, and food safety standards. Monitor feed, water, lighting, ventilation, and environmental conditions. Assist with production planning and achieving production targets. Maintain accurate production records and reports. Monitor stock levels and control the use of farm consumables and equipment. Ensure farm equipment and facilities are maintained and report maintenance requirements. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Conduct routine inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary. Assist with staff attendance, leave administration, and performance management. Attending to HR/IR matters (i.e. planning leave, time sheets, disciplinary measures, interviews etc.) Stand in for the Farm Manager during periods of absence.
