Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies seeks a skilled Cashier for their Cape Road store in Gqeberha. The role involves providing top-notch customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a premium shopping experience for all customers.

Responsibilities include

• Recording customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system in accordance with company policies and standard operating procedures, with strict zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risks.

Essential Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric - A minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations - Proficient in MS Office - Strong numerical skills - Excellent command of the English language - Basic customer service skills - Willingness and ability to work retail hours

Duties and Responsibilities

• Comply with Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures - Build professional relationships with customers - Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Adhere to the customer turnover hourly rate - Stay updated on current sales and promotions - Ensure no risks are posed to colleagues and customers - Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow - Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor - Exchange merchandise and accept returned goods as authorized - Process all purchases, receiving and handling payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other forms of payment accepted by Dis-Chem) - Process loyalty cards, including those of our partner programs (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks) - Place cash in drop safe following Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Ensure personal code and password are secure, restricted to you, and changed regularly - Scan and process all outgoing stock/items/scripts - Keep all money safely and securely in the till - Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management - Report any suspicious behavior to management - Address queries regarding store merchandise - Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
