Job Description

Recruitpro Solutions, a leading international heavy industrial manufacturing group with an extensive global presence, seeks a proactive and adaptable Manager for Supply Chain Operations.

Purpose of the Role

The Manager, Group Supply Chain Operations, will oversee the group's entire inbound value chain. The role focuses on acquiring the optimal materials and external capacity at the most sustainable landed cost, ensuring all manufacturing and distribution operations are well-supported in terms of timing and location. This position involves making key decisions rather than merely coordinating activities.

Location and Travel

The main base of operations will be in Mauritius. The role requires:

At least one week per month in Gauteng, South Africa, at the manufacturing site. Two annual supplier visits to China, with additional travel to Europe, India, and other supply markets as necessary. Overall travel commitment of approximately 35 to 45 percent.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and nurture a multi-country supply chain team in procurement, planning, and logistics. - Develop and implement group category strategies for steel and plate, polyurethane and chemicals, rubber compounds, bearings, castings, drives and motors, fasteners, consumables, and freight. - Identify, qualify, appoint, and negotiate with suppliers, including direct sourcing in China. - Manage supplier scorecards, implement corrective actions, and build strategic supplier relationships. - Own the group supply plan and supply chain inputs for the monthly demand and supply reconciliation (S&OP). - Oversee group inventory policies, manage days of inventory, and address excess and obsolete stock. - Handle inbound and intercompany logistics, freight tendering, Incoterms, customs, and duty optimization. - Collaborate with Finance to own the landed cost model and achieve year-on-year cost reductions. - Maintain the supply risk register and secure alternate sources for critical items. - Ensure reliable replenishment of distributors and service parts. - Ensure supply chain master data accuracy in SYSPRO and drive process automation. - Present supplier technology, alternative materials, and cost-down opportunities to Engineering and Operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Commerce. - Minimum 12 years of industrial procurement and supply chain experience, with at least 5 years in a group or multi-country role with buying authority. - Expertise in at least two of the following categories: steel and plate, polymers and chemicals, rubber compounds, bearings and power transmission, castings and forgings. - Proven track record of direct sourcing from China, including supplier identification, audit, qualification, and negotiation. - Demonstrated experience in an S&OP or demand and supply reconciliation cycle. - Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SYSPRO preferred), including MRP, item master, lead times, and purchase pricing. - International logistics experience, including Incoterms, customs, and imports/exports to Africa, South America, Australia, and Asia. - Ability to build and defend a landed cost model, and present verified savings to a CFO. - Competence in reading a bill of materials and understanding fabrication, moulding, machining, and assembly processes. - Experience in a multi-entity group with cross-border intercompany supply. - Fluent in business English.

Advantageous

• Experience in building a procurement or supply chain function from the ground up. - Background in mining, bulk materials handling, or heavy industrial aftermarket supply. - French language skills.
