Jakkalsvlei Private Cellar, nestled in the picturesque Garden Route near Mossel Bay, is now looking for a dedicated Harvest Assistant to bolster their team for the 2027 harvest season. The chosen individual should be dynamic, meticulous, dependable, and punctual, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and handle high-pressure situations—attributes crucial for this position.

Contract duration: From January to the end of April 2027

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting the winemaking team in daily cellar operations. • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in general cellar equipment. • Managing additions and overseeing the fermentation process. • Utilizing a forklift for the loading and unloading of pallets. • Conducting recordkeeping tasks. • Collecting sugar samples in the vineyard. • Undertaking any other duties associated with the role.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• A diploma or degree in Viticulture and Oenology is beneficial; • Prior harvest and/or cellar experience is advantageous; • A valid driver’s license is mandatory (a forklift license and reliable personal transport are also advantageous); • Willingness to engage in physical labor and work beyond regular hours, including weekends when required.
