Kromco (Pty) Ltd., situated in Grabouw, operates significantly within the pome fruit industry and seeks an accomplished Quality Assurance Manager to oversee quality assurance and food safety throughout its apple and pear packing and storage facilities. The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise with hands-on management skills to work with producers, operational staff, suppliers, and clients. The candidate will be tasked with (but not limited to):

• Leading quality assurance and food safety initiatives from fruit reception to distribution * Upholding HACCP and BRCGS systems and ensuring adherence * Supervising fruit quality evaluations and customer specifications * Investigating quality losses and instituting improvements * Managing traceability, conducting audits, handling corrective actions, and addressing customer complaints * Training and mentoring packhouse teams on food safety and quality standards * Undertaking international travel to liaise with clients and foster relationships * Monitoring quality trends and managing the QA budget * All other duties associated with this role

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field • Demonstrated experience in quality management within the apple and pear packing/post-harvest sector • Hands-on experience with HACCP and BRCGS • Knowledge of apple and pear post-harvest processes, quality issues, cooling, and storage • Experience with audits, non-conformances, and customer complaints • Strong analytical, communication, and team leadership abilities • Valid driver’s license and possession of a reliable vehicle
