Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is currently seeking a Merchandiser for their Waterfall store in the Gauteng region. This permanent position is part of the Retail Sales sector and carries the reference number 206163.

Minimum Requirements: 1. Essential qualifications include a Grade 12/Matric certificate, up to 6 months of retail experience, and basic computer literacy, specifically proficiency in MS Office. Being willing and able to work retail hours is also a must. 2. Advantageously, candidates with at least 1 year of retail experience are preferred.

Job Description: The Merchandiser will be responsible for maintaining Dis-Chem's basic merchandising standards and ensuring excellent customer service. Key duties include:

• Restocking merchandise as needed to maximize sales - Properly storing and packing delivered stock and items pulled from the storeroom - Ensuring stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date - Ensuring the full range of products is available on the shelves at all times - Implementing a regular, FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation - Reporting low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management - Assisting with stock counting and general stocktaking - Adhering to Dis-Chem's operating standards, store layout, and planograms - Flattening boxes after unpacking and taking them to the designated area - Presenting front shop shelves and products neatly, with correct labels and pricing - Reporting any price discrepancies to management - Keeping up-to-date with current and new products - Constructing, facing up, stocking, and maintaining merchandising displays - Maintaining the daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays, including responsibility for designated stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor - Assisting with loading and off-loading of stock - Ensuring items without barcodes are clearly marked - Assisting with back shopping - Providing friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers - Following up on out-of-stock queries from customers using the customer service out-of-stock list - Resolving all customer stock queries - Wearing the correct uniform and badge at all times - Minimizing losses by handling merchandise carefully - Adhering to Dis-Chem's policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and health and safety rules and regulations

Competencies: Essential competencies include a strong command of the English language, presentable demeanor, effective engagement with customers, management, and staff, and trustworthiness. Time management is also crucial.

Advantageously, bilingual proficiency, knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry, product and category knowledge, and the ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking are beneficial. Candidates with the ability to report bad/suspicious behavior related to both staff and customers are also preferred.

Special Conditions of Employment: Candidates must be willing and able to work retail hours, physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes, reliable in terms of transport, reside close to the store, be a South African citizen, have a clear credit and criminal record.
