BRIEF DESCRIPTION:-
The Operator: Smelter Sampling role at Rand Refinery involves ensuring high-quality, timely, and consistent sampling and subsampling of materials, capturing and processing data, and supporting SHEQ initiatives. Key responsibilities include adhering to sampling protocols, utilizing equipment efficiently, and complying with security and IT policies. The position requires a Matric qualification, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and skills in Microsoft and SAP software, along with strong communication and organizational abilities.

DESCRIPTION
The primary role of this position is to ensure the high-quality, timely, consistent, and representative sampling, subsampling, and sample preparation of both internal and customer materials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
• Ensuring that all material sampling is completed within the stipulated time frame, adhering to established SOPs. • Executing essential administrative tasks including the capture and processing of sampling data in LIMS. • Disseminating operational information regarding production, equipment availability, SHEQ, and general notices to colleagues and supervisors. • Continually evaluating operational risks and implementing approved corrective actions. • Efficient utilization of equipment. • Adhering to security protocols. • Complying with Metal Assurance policies. • Supporting SHEQ initiatives. • Ensuring compliance with IT policies and ERP systems (LIMS).
REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Completion of Matric qualification. • At least 1 year of experience in a similar environment.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft suite (Excel, Email, Word) and SAP. • Good communication skills. • Strong planning and organizing abilities. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Proficient networking skills. • Problem identification and solution capabilities.
KNOWLEDGE
• Understanding of fundamental sampling principles. • Familiarity with all sampling unit equipment. • Knowledge of all sampling and sample preparation SOPs. • Understanding of stock management practices. • Competence in applying relevant SHEQ practices and procedures, including incident investigations and reporting.
