Requirements

• Grade 12. - Grade 1: Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification that permits registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic). No experience required after registration with SAPC. - Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) who is registered with SAPC. - Grade 3: Minimum of 13 years relevant experience as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) registered with SAPC.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficient in computer applications, numerical skills, and strong customer service abilities. - Excellent verbal communication skills and good listening abilities. - Strong organizational and mathematical skills. - Knowledge of drug regulations and multi-tasking capabilities. - Discretionary, attentive to instructions, and capable of maintaining detailed records.

Duties

• Dispense prescription medications and other medical products to patients under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. - Perform administrative duties, including answering phones, receiving and inputting prescription orders, operating cash registers, and restocking inventory. - Gather, organize, and assess patient information and provide patients with education and information regarding their prescriptions. - Monitor the prescription-filling process to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and pharmacy policies. - Liaise with healthcare providers and patients to obtain accurate prescription information and answer medication-related questions under pharmacist supervision. - Conduct inventory of drugs on hand and record results. - Place orders for additional drugs as directed by the pharmacist. - Maintain electronic patient information. - Detail-oriented, team-oriented, and adept at record keeping.
