BRIEF DESCRIPTION:-
The Staff Nurse role involves delivering health education, measuring and documenting vital signs, operating medical equipment, and providing HIV counseling and testing services. The position requires proficiency in communication, teamwork, and resource management, with specific experience in HIV treatment and adherence to confidentiality standards. The most important requirements include relevant nursing experience post-registration with the SANC and knowledge of health policies and treatment guidelines.

Requirements
Grade 1: Experience: None; Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years of relevant and recognized nursing experience post-registration with the SANC as a Registered Nurse. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years of relevant and recognized nursing experience post-registration with the SANC as a Registered Nurse.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficient communication and interpersonal skills. Strong teamwork capabilities. Capability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines. Willingness to travel extensively. Knowledge of health policies and HIV/AIDS management, treatment guidelines, and related protocols. Appropriate experience in managing HIV treatment. Adherence to confidentiality standards.
Duties
Deliver health education to patients receiving care. Measure, interpret, and document vital signs. Operate all relevant medical devices and equipment. Provide treatment literacy to clients on chronic medication to improve adherence. Offer quality HIV counseling and testing services on-site including HIV Self-Testing and Index Testing. Provide high-quality TB, STI & COVID screening. Assist professional nurses with clinical procedures and the preparation of patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures. Effectively manage resources by ordering stock and equipment in a cost-effective manner and immediately reporting lost or damaged resources. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development: Adhere to the code of conduct as required in the Public Service and by the Professional Body. Ensure quality data management in accordance with SOP's.
