We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacist for our Carlswald Store in Gauteg. In this role, you will be entrusted with dispensing medications, offering pharmaceutical guidance to patients and healthcare professionals, and ensuring the safe and effective use of prescription drugs.
Minimum Requirements: Essential: Grade 12 / Matric BPharm / equivalent qualification Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) Minimum 2-3 years' experience in pharmaceuticals 2-3 years retail pharmacy experience Computer literate – MS Office
Advantageous: Relevant retail/ FMCG experience Third additional language SAP experience E-scripting experience Registered tutor Unisolv experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Dispensing of Medication: Dispensing medications under direct pharmacist supervision. Accurately interpret prescriptions and ensure compliance with legal requirements set by the South African Pharmaceutical Council. Capture and verify patient details accurately. Ensure precise picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medications, understanding common dosages and important drug interactions. Provide precise instructions to patients on the correct use of their medication. Stay informed on changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing.
Customer Service: Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front-shop. Follow up on script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager and schedule follow-up appointments. Explain all medical aid costs to patients.
Administration: Process paperwork for the accurate submission of claims to medical aids. Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid. Authorize chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication. Maintain customer profiles on the system. Merge profiles locally, notifying Vexall to merge profiles centrally. Address any messages on customer profiles and take appropriate action.
Stock Control: Report low or out of stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager. Facilitate bi-annual stock takes. Exercise control over stock, cash, and assets.
Competencies: Comprehensive knowledge of medicines, including common dosing regimes, interactions, and counseling for effective treatment outcomes. Understanding of retail pharmacy operations. Critical thinking abilities. Excellent communication skills to guide patients on medication usage and side effects. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse community members. Proficient in English and a second language, capable of reading, writing, and speaking. Find solutions to potential issues and know when and how to escalate problems. Act as a role model, emphasizing high standards and quality. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Proficient in computer, numerical skills, and experience with Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting.
