Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is in need of a skilled Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for their Mooirivier Junction store in Potchefstroom. The role will involve providing pharmaceutical care, ensuring patient medicine-related needs are met with accountability.
Minimum Requirements: - Grade 12 / Matric - Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification - Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) - Advantageous: Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations, experience with Unisolv, oncology experience, third additional language, familiarity with SAP and E-Scripting, drug and family planning, and complementary medicine
Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines and scheduled substances - Support the compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines and scheduled substances following approved formulas and SOPs - Aid in the manufacturing of non-sterile medicines and scheduled substances per approved formulas and SOPs - Help with re-packaging of medicine - Assist in the distribution and stock control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines and scheduled substances - Support the ordering of Schedule 1 to Schedule 6 medicines and scheduled substances - Assist in the reading, preparation, selection, manipulation, compounding, labeling, and supply of medicine following pharmacist instructions - Accurately interpret prescriptions and act within legal requirements per SAPC - Capture and verify script and patient details accurately on the system - Ensure precise picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medication, with knowledge of common dosages and drug interactions - Provide accurate instructions to patients regarding the correct use of supplied medicine - Stay informed about changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing - Ensure all medications are verified and signed by a pharmacist - Advise and assist patients in the dispensary, self-medication, and front shop - Follow up on script tracking reports and patient appointments as requested - Explain medical aid costs to patients - Provide information to promote health - Process necessary paperwork for accurate submission of claims to medical aids - Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid - Ensure authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication - Maintain and merge customer profiles locally and centrally notify UCS - Take action on any messages noted on customer profiles - Report low or out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager - Receive dispensary stock according to Dis-Chem’s SOPs and merchandise following FEFO - Facilitate bi-annual stock takes - Exercise control over stock, cash, and assets
Competencies: - Essential: English and second language (read, write, and speak), good communication and listening skills, customer service focus, strong attention to detail, sound numerical skills, problem-solving, team player, trustworthy, honest, time management, computer literacy (MS Office) - Advantageous: Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations, third additional language, experience with Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting, drug and family planning, and complementary medicine
