Our client is looking for a seasoned Python/Spark/AI Developer to aid in the modernization of data platforms. The role involves transitioning legacy T-SQL workloads to Spark and Delta Lake pipelines. The ideal candidate will engage in data engineering, API development, and AI-enabled solutions, focusing on robust, well-tested, and specification-driven Python coding practices.

Skills Required · Four or more years of professional experience in Python development. · Minimum of two years of experience in building production-level Spark or similar distributed data pipelines. · Advanced knowledge of Python 3.12, including type hints, Pydantic, ABC-based provider patterns, and modern packaging tools like uv or Poetry. · Proficiency in Click or similar command-line interface (CLI) frameworks. · Extensive experience with Apache Spark/PySpark, including DataFrame API, Spark SQL, partitioning, performance optimization, and the driver/executor architecture. · Familiarity with Spark Connect. · Proven experience with Delta Lake or comparable lakehouse technologies such as Iceberg or Hudi. · Strong SQL skills and the ability to accurately translate legacy T-SQL and stored-procedure logic into Spark SQL. · Understanding of hashing, surrogate keys, and set-based deduplication techniques. · Hands-on experience with pytest, including fixtures, markers, and various levels of testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end). · Experience in developing REST APIs using FastAPI or an equivalent framework. · Practical experience with Docker and Compose-based development environments. · Strong Git and continuous integration practices, including pull request workflows, linting, type checking, and automated test gates.
