Minimum Requirements
Holding a Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying. Possessing 2-5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector. Proven experience in managing both residential and commercial projects. Demonstrated understanding of construction contracts, cost control, and procurement methodologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with Quantity Surveying software is a plus. Holding a valid driver’s license and possessing reliable personal transportation. Exhibiting strong numerical and analytical abilities. Exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in both English and Afrikaans is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Occasionally managing sleep-outs. Developing precise cost estimates and budgets for construction projects. Carrying out quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings and project specifications. Supporting tender preparation, adjudication, and contract negotiation activities. Drafting bills of quantities (BOQs). Monitoring project costs and identifying potential cost-saving measures. Managing subcontractor and supplier pricing, quotations, and payments. Reviewing and certifying subcontractor claims and progress payments. Preparing and submitting monthly cost reports. Tracking project variations and preparing variation orders. Assisting with contract administration and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Engaging with clients, contractors, consultants, and project teams. Maintaining project financial records and documentation. Supporting the final account preparation and project close-out processes.
