We are currently seeking a skilled Painter to deliver superior painting, surface preparation, road marking, and finishing services throughout our facilities. This position involves ensuring that buildings, structures, signage, parking areas, and marked surfaces are maintained to a high standard, are safe for use, and present a professional appearance in line with company and client expectations.

Duties & Responsibilities    

Painting and Surface Preparation

• Execute thorough cleaning, sanding, scraping, smoothing, and defect repair on interior and exterior surfaces. - Apply paint, varnish, lacquer, stains, primers, and protective coatings with precision. - Restore and maintain painted surfaces through accurate color matching and tinting. - Repair and maintain drywall surfaces, wall textures, and acoustic ceiling finishes. - Confirm all completed work adheres to quality standards and project specifications. - Safely set up and dismantle ladders, scaffolding, and platforms.

Road Marking and Facilities Support

• Prepare and apply line markings for roads, parking bays, walkways, and directional signage. - Maintain site markings to ensure visibility, compliance, and safety. - Assist with facility improvement projects as directed by management. - Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on color schemes and special project requirements. - Complete additional maintenance-related tasks as reasonably required.

Hazardous Materials Compliance

• Safely handle, mix, store, and dispose of paints, chemicals, and related products. - Adhere to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) requirements. - Follow all Occupational Health and Safety legislation and company SHEQ procedures. - Consistently use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly. - Promptly report safety hazards, incidents, and non-conformances.

Tool, Equipment and Work Area Maintenance

• Clean, inspect, and maintain painting tools and equipment. - Ensure all equipment remains in good working condition. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. - Monitor and report material shortages and equipment defects.

Customer Service

• Deliver professional and courteous service to clients and site users. - Respond promptly to maintenance requests. - Foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. - Promote a safe, clean, and customer-focused environment.

Skills and Competencies    

• Skilled in mixing, matching, and applying paints, coatings, and finishes. - Proficient in preparing surfaces on various materials and substrates. - Capable of installing and repairing drywall, wall textures, and ceiling finishes. - Ability to read and follow specifications, instructions, and safety procedures. - Understanding of signage layout and marking requirements. - Competence in safely using ladders, scaffolding, and access equipment.

Qualifications    

• Grade 12 (Matric)

Experience

• Minimum 3 years' painting experience within facilities maintenance, construction, or a related environment. - Experience in surface preparation, finishing, road marking, and signage maintenance.
