**Position Overview**

Recruitpro Solutions is seeking an experienced Process Engineer for a long-term, client-facing role within our mineral processing equipment and solutions division. This permanent position encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from initial design and simulation to site audits, sales support, and commissioning. Ideal for an engineer who thrives on variety, this role alternates between office-based design and modelling, and fieldwork at test plants or client sites.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Front-End Engineering and Process Design** - Design and develop process flowsheets for various stages of studies, proposals, and tenders. - Compile mass and water balances based on simulation data, test work, and client plant information. - Prepare process design criteria, prepare PFDs, and compile equipment lists. - Select and size equipment for comminution and mineral separation, collaborating with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). - Offer technical input for CAPEX/OPEX estimates, performance guarantees, and tender submissions. - Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments, and oversee the transition of designs to project execution.

**Process Simulation and Modelling** - Develop and calibrate Aggflow models for crushing and screening circuits. - Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess feed variability, throughput, and product specifications. - Maintain a controlled library of simulation models, assumptions, and equipment data.

**Test Work and Test Plant** - Plan and execute test work programs, including sampling, test matrices, and success criteria. - Oversee test plant operations, ensuring quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) in sample preparation, testing, and data capture. - Analyze results and prepare test work reports with flowsheet and equipment recommendations. - Assist in evaluating new technologies and applications.

**Client Site Audits and Optimization** - Conduct process audits at client sites, including sampling campaigns, surveys, and mass balance reconciliations. - Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, quantify their impact, and present prioritized recommendations.

**Sales Support** - Collaborate with the sales team from opportunity to order award. - Prepare technical proposals, process descriptions, datasheets, and compliance schedules. - Present flowsheets and test results to clients, and support technical negotiations.

**Commissioning and Performance Testing** - Create commissioning plans, control philosophies, and start-up procedures. - Support on-site commissioning activities and optimize ramp-up to design throughput. - Plan and execute performance tests, and compile close-out reports. - Train client operating and metallurgical staff.

**Knowledge Development** - Author technical papers, case studies, and conference presentations (e.g., SAIMM). - Share knowledge through internal training, design guidelines, and lessons-learnt records.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Qualification:** - BEng / BSc in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Mineral Process Engineering (or equivalent). - ECSA registration (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng), or working towards it, is advantageous.

**Experience:** - At least 5 years of process engineering experience in mineral processing, with emphasis on front-end or study-phase design. - Hands-on experience in flowsheet development, mass balancing, and equipment sizing for comminution and mineral separation. - Proficient in Aggflow or similar simulation software (JKSimMet, Bruno, METSIM, LIMN). - Experience in planning and interpreting metallurgical test work; exposure to pilot or test plant operations. - Plant operations, commissioning, or process audit experience is beneficial.

**Skills:** - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound engineering judgement. - Excellent technical writing and report compilation abilities. - Confident in presenting to clients, OEMs, and internal teams. - Capable of turning test work and simulation data into practical, commercially sound recommendations. - Proficient in advanced Excel, MS Office, and PFD drafting tools (Visio / AutoCAD). - Well-organized, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and work independently. - Willing to travel to sites and spend extended periods away from home.
