Position Overview Employer: West Coast Personnel

An established manufacturing entity is now looking for a skilled Process Technician to oversee and enhance its process control and instrumentation systems. This hands-on position presents an excellent chance to bolster plant reliability, provide automation support, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities • Maintain the optimal operation of all control and instrumentation systems within the manufacturing plant. • Manage calibration records for process scales and weighbridges. • Calibrate and monitor process scales, electronic weighing systems, and weighbridges. • Ensure the proper functioning of electronic flowmeters through regular calibration and oversight. • Develop and update process control diagrams for maintenance and project purposes using Microsoft Visio. • Plan and implement modifications and updates to Beckhoff I/O lists. • Provide updated I/O information to the relevant system integrator. • Assist electricians in troubleshooting automation issues, including after-hours standby support when necessary. • Participate actively in the company’s continuous improvement programs. • Carry out related technical and administrative tasks with precision.

Minimum Requirements • A diploma or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering, with Industrial Control Systems as a key subject. • Minimum of five years of post-qualification experience in a factory, plant, or similar manufacturing setting. • Practical experience in industrial instrumentation and process control systems. • Proficiency with electronic weighing systems and PLCs. • Beneficial knowledge of variable-speed drives and soft starters. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. • Experience in creating or updating technical drawings using Microsoft Visio. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. • Excellent attention to detail. • A balanced approach to both hands-on plant work and technical administration. • Valid driver’s license. • Preferably residing in Paarl or the surrounding area.
