Requirement Overview ---------------------


Wilderness is currently seeking a seasoned and proficient Trail Guide for the purpose of providing top-tier wilderness experiences through guided walking safaris, wildlife tracking, and luxurious guest hosting. The ideal candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of the wilderness, expert tracking abilities, experience with dangerous game, and an unwavering dedication to safety, conservation, and unparalleled guest service.


Principal Duties ----------------


  • Direct and facilitate guided walking safaris and tracking expeditions in secluded wilderness regions. - Safely navigate dangerous game encounters through expert tracking and situational awareness. - Adhere to all legal protocols and Wilderness safety guidelines when managing firearms. - Ensure precise completion of walking logs, incident reports, vehicle records, and operational documentation. - Perform routine vehicle inspections and monitor maintenance needs for allocated game drive vehicles. - Conduct thorough guest safety orientations prior to any activity. - Provide exceptional guest experiences through professional hosting, interpretation, and environmental education. - Assist with overall camp operations while fostering strong working relationships across various departments. - Comply with all company policies, safety protocols, and relevant legislation.

Minimum Requirements and Experience ------------------------------------


  • Possession of a full Trails Guide Certification (FGASA / NQA Level 3 or 4 or equivalent). - At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a luxury safari or wilderness guiding setting. - Minimum 300 recorded walking hours leading groups in areas with dangerous game. - Valid Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) certification and firearm competency certification. - Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) qualification or Level 2 First Aid certificate. - Possession of a valid Driver's Licence and Namibian Public Driving Permit (PDP). - Proficient in both written and spoken English.
