Dis-Chem Pharmacies is actively seeking to establish a talent pool of Temporary Cashiers for its Kempton Park branches. This initiative aims to create a ready pool of pre-screened individuals who possess the requisite skills, qualifications, and attributes to be considered for future opportunities within Dis-Chem Pharmacies.

Purpose of the Role: Assist in delivering exceptional customer service at the point of sale while maintaining a high standard of shopping experience. Accurately process customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering strictly to company policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risk.

Essential Qualifications: - Grade 12 / Matric - Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations - Proficient in MS Office - Strong numerical and English language skills - Basic understanding of customer service - Willingness to work flexible retail hours

Job Description: - Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures - Build a professional rapport with customers - Report customer feedback to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Maintain adherence to hourly customer turnover rates - Stay updated with current sales and promotions - Ensure safety for colleagues and customers - Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow responsibly - Ensure all line voids and price changes are verified and signed off by the supervisor - Exchange merchandise and handle returns as authorized - Process all forms of payments accepted by Dis-Chem - Handle loyalty cards and partner programs - Securely store cash as per Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Maintain personal code and password safely - Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts - Securely manage all money in the till - Handle daily takings confidentially - Report suspicious behavior to management - Address queries about store merchandise - Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures

Competencies: - Thorough knowledge of cash register operations and cash drawer management - Expertise in processing sales, refunds, and payments - Strong command of English (written and oral) - Attention to detail - Presentable appearance - Emotional intelligence - Social awareness - Accountability - Problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze basic reports - Trustworthiness and honesty - Time management
