An opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a precision-engineering business in Milnerton, Cape Town. This is a permanent, hands-on technical position for a skilled CNC professional capable of confidently programming, setting, and operating CNC milling machines and lathes while adhering to strict tolerances to produce high-quality precision components.
Key Responsibilities
• Program, set, and operate CNC milling machines, including 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling. • Set up and operate CNC turning machines and lathes. • Develop and optimize CNC programs using Autodesk Fusion 360 / CAM. • Interpret technical drawings and machining specifications. • Choose appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds. • Machine components to precise tolerances. • Conduct in-process dimensional and quality checks. • Make necessary tooling and program adjustments. • Identify and resolve machining or programming issues. • Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and productivity. • Ensure correct maintenance of machines, tools, and work areas. • Follow workshop safety and quality procedures.
Minimum Requirements • Red Seal Trade Test – essential. • Fanuc Control experience essential. • Minimum 5 years’ current CNC machining experience. • Strong 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling experience. • CNC turning and lathe experience. • Proven ability to program, set, and operate CNC machinery. • Proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 / CAM. • Strong understanding of precision machining. • Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. • Good measuring and inspection skills. • Own reliable transport.
