An intriguing position is now open for a skilled Draughtsman to join our client’s renowned engineering and construction team based in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a technically proficient Draughtsman with a focus on Electrical aspects, although Architectural Draughtsmen with a keen interest in building services are also eligible.
Key Responsibilities: - Create, refine, and maintain precise technical drawings for electrical and mechanical building services. - Deliver drawings for electrical installations, HVAC systems, and plumbing services. - Interpret engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and project directives. - Develop exact 2D and 3D drawings following project standards and specifications. - Support engineers and project teams in the creation and coordination of building services diagrams. - Evaluate and update drawings based on feedback from engineers and consultants. - Guarantee drawings are precise, well-coordinated, and compliant with project requirements. - Collaborate on integrating electrical, mechanical, architectural, and other building service elements as needed. - Aid in the production of as-built drawings, revisions, and project documentation. - Maintain drawing registers and ensure all documentation is properly updated and controlled. - Communicate with engineers, architects, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders about drawing requirements. - Detect potential clashes or coordination issues and help address them during the design phase. - Adhere to relevant industry standards, project specifications, and company protocols. - Contribute to Revit/BIM modeling and multi-disciplinary coordination when applicable.
Requirements: - Relevant Draughting qualification, National Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent technical certification. - Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a draughting role. - Prior experience in Electrical Draughting is highly beneficial. - Familiarity with building services, MEP, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or wet services projects is advantageous. - Proficiency in AutoCAD. - Experience with Revit is a strong plus. - Exposure to BIM and multi-disciplinary coordination is advantageous. - Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering layouts, specifications, and design data. - Capability to manage multiple drawings and project deliverables within set deadlines.
