Job Summary: We are on the lookout for an accomplished Mechanical Design Draughtsman to bolster our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be tasked with generating precise mechanical designs and drawings utilizing SolidWorks. This position calls for meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to collaborate effectively with our engineering team.
Key Responsibilities: - Engage in communication with engineers and various departments within the company. - Develop detailed mechanical drawings and designs in SolidWorks, encompassing Manufacturing Drawings, QC drawings, General Assembly Drawings, Exploded View and Sectional Assembly Drawings, with particular emphasis on General Assembly drawings. - Work alongside engineers to design and refine mechanical components and systems. - Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards and specifications. - Keep thorough documentation of design processes and any modifications made. - Aid in the preparation of technical reports and presentations. - Support the prototyping and testing phases of new designs. - Comply with best practices in engineering and draughting. - Follow Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management systems and controls. - Adhere to the company’s filing structure and part numbering system. - Assign part numbers and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the company’s ERP system. - Be prepared to work additional hours when necessary.
Time Management: - Design: 20% - Product Support: 5% - BOMs and ERP Management: 20% - Quality Product Checks: 5% - General Drawings (GA’s, Sectional Views, and Exploded Views): 50%
Minimum Requirements: - A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with SolidWorks; non-compliant candidates should not apply. - 2 years of experience working with large EPCs (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), Project Management, and Engineering Consulting Houses is beneficial. - 1 year of experience in mineral processing sites is advantageous. - Knowledge of the design process (PLM or PDM) and bill of materials creation. - Proficiency in draughting standards and manufacturing processes, with advanced understanding of: - Limits and fits - Geometric tolerancing - Welding standards and symbols - Sheet metal cutting (Laser, Flame, Plasma) - Sheet metal bending - Familiarity with ERP systems (Syspro preferred).
