IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is enhancing the development of its premier palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in Limpopo Province, close to Mokopane. This groundbreaking mineral deposit will be extracted using advanced underground mining techniques and cutting-edge technology to create the mine of the future. Qualified and experienced individuals are encouraged to apply for the following positions essential for the project’s advancement.
Candidates must fulfill the following minimum qualifications and possess the necessary skills: - Grade 12 or equivalent - Competent A&B mining certificate - Blasting Certificate (DMRE/MQA Level 3)
Candidates should also have the following work experience: - Minimum of one year as a Crew Captain - Five years of experience in a trackless mining setting
Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to: - Ensuring adherence to required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by the crew - Setting up pneumatic drilling machinery and controlling the drilling action to create blast holes in tunnel headings according to specifications - Conducting accident and incident investigations and implementing measures to prevent recurrence - Communicating daily mining plans to the crew - Allocating crew responsibilities - Drilling and blasting earth and rock excavations to build underground shafts and tunnels - Providing necessary support to the crew - Conducting risk assessments - Marking off support structures - Charging up the face and executing safe blasting - Supplying information to the control room for shift/work report compilation - Ensuring legal accountability for stopping panels/development ends and blasting as per the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) - Working in underground zones - Performing other duties as assigned
