1. Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of this position is to manage, repair, and maintain the plumbing and sanitation systems on-site.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1. Operational Maintenance

• Conduct maintenance, installation, repair, and upgrades of plumbing fixtures on-site. • Maintain an inventory of plumbing and related equipment. • Inspect plumbing systems to identify leaks. • Address leaks by replacing valves or faulty fittings. • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of plumbing and heating systems. • Perform emergency repairs to address urgent site requirements. • Execute additional duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager. • Replace worn parts and operate hand and power tools associated with plumbing. • Adhere to Health and Safety Legislation, ensuring the work area remains clean, tidy, and secure. • Analyze blueprints and schematics to determine optimal installation or upgrades. • Coordinate with the foreman and other trades for efficient project completion. • Diagnose issues in plumbing or irrigation systems to determine repair or replacement needs. • Fabricate equipment parts to meet specialty requirements or replace unavailable parts. • Inform personnel about work orders and procedures for compliance with building and safety regulations. • Evaluate buildings and facilities to identify necessary repairs and recommend preventive maintenance. • Install plumbing systems and fixtures such as hot water heaters and drinking fountains. • Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for information exchange. • Prepare written documentation (e.g. repair status, activity logs) to record activities. • Request equipment and supplies to maintain necessary inventory and availability. • Transport tools and equipment to ensure availability at the job site. • Report and assist in analyzing incidents or potential hazards. • Maintain accurate time-keeping records for work tasks. • Monitor and record the use of workshop consumables. • Assist in training apprentices and other workshop staff.

2.2. Safety, Health and Environment Compliance

• Ensure a secure and safe working environment. • Follow all health and safety procedures and toolbox talks diligently.

2.3. Stock Control

• Maintain adequate supplies and utilities for planned jobs. • Maintain an asset register of supplies and equipment. • Conduct regular stock takes to investigate discrepancies. • Order materials and supplies as per procurement procedures.
