Dis-Chem Pharmacies is currently recruiting Temporary Sales Associates for our Bedford Square locations. This initiative aims to establish a strategic talent pool comprising individuals with the necessary skills, qualifications, and attributes to meet future staffing needs within our pharmacies.

Role Purpose: To enhance customer service at the checkout, delivering an exceptional shopping experience. Accurately record transactions within the Dis-Chem system, adhering to company policies and standard operating procedures, with strict zero tolerance for errors and fraud prevention.

Requirements: - Essential: Grade 12 / Matric - Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations - Proficient in MS Office applications - Excellent numerical and English language skills - Basic customer service experience - Willingness to work flexible retail hours

Job Description: - Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service guidelines and procedures - Build professional relationships with customers - Report customer feedback to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Adhere to hourly customer turnover rates - Stay informed about current sales and promotions - Ensure safety and risk-free environment for colleagues and customers - Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow effectively - Handle merchandise exchanges and returns when authorized - Process all types of payments accepted by Dis-Chem (cash, bank cards, vouchers, etc.) - Manage loyalty card transactions, including those from partners like Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks - Securely store cash in drop safes as per Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Maintain confidentiality regarding daily takings, discussing only with management - Report suspicious activities to management - Address customer queries about store merchandise - Comply with Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures

Competencies: - Essential: Expertise in operating cash registers and managing cash drawers - Proficient in processing sales, refunds, and payments - Strong command of English (both written and oral) - High attention to detail - Presentable demeanor - Emotional intelligence and social awareness - Accountability and problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze basic reports - Trustworthiness and honesty - Effective time management
