The Purpose of the Role Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is actively seeking Casual Merchandisers to create a talent pool for their Tubatse stores. A strategic talent pool ensures a pre-screened group of individuals with required skills, qualifications, or attributes for future job opportunities within the company.

Role Responsibilities Your key duties will involve maintaining Dis-Chem merchandising standards and delivering exceptional customer service.

Essential Requirements - Grade 12 / Matric qualification - Up to 6 months' retail experience - Computer literacy with MS Office - Willingness and ability to work retail hours - Advantageous: At least 1 year of retail experience

Main Responsibilities - Restocking merchandise to maximize sales - Ensuring delivered stock is stored and packed in the correct space in a timely manner - Monitoring stock on shelves to ensure it has not reached the sell-by date - Ensuring the full range of products is on the shelves at all times - Facilitating stock rotation using FIFO basis - Reporting low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management - Assisting with counting of stock files and general stocktaking - Adhering to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms - Flattening boxes after unpacking stock and taking them to designated areas - Presenting front shop shelves and products neatly, with correct labels and pricing - Reporting price discrepancies to management - Keeping up-to-date with current and new products - Ensuring merchandising displays are built, faced up, stocked, and maintained - Maintaining daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays - Assisting with loading and off-loading of stock - Handling items without barcodes clearly - Assisting with back shopping - Assisting in training new staff - Providing friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers - Following up on out-of-stock queries from customers - Resolving all customer stock queries - Wearing the correct uniform and badge at all times - Minimizing losses by handling merchandise carefully - Adhering to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety rules and regulations

Competencies - Strong command of the English language - Presentable demeanor - Effective engagement with customers, management, and staff - Trustworthy and honest - Strong time management skills

Advantageous Qualifications - Bilingual proficiency - Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry - Understanding of product and category knowledge - Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking - Ability to report bad/suspicious behavior relating to both staff and customers
