End User Computing Engineer Position Details Salary: Market Related Job Type: Permanent Sectors: IT Investment (Reference: 205851)
Vacancy Overview Employer: Lesaka Technologies
Purpose of the Role The EUC Engineer is the primary point of contact for End User Computing service delivery at the designated Lesaka Group office. This role involves providing hands-on deskside and remote support to employees for hardware, software, Microsoft 365, and connectivity issues. The primary responsibility is to resolve the majority of day-to-day incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs. If an issue requires deeper technical resolution, the role escalates these to the Senior EUC Engineer.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) Service Delivery & SLA First-Line Resolution: Provide both deskside and remote support, addressing hardware, software, Microsoft 365, and connectivity issues within the agreed SLA timeframes.
Ticket Discipline Log, update, and close tickets accurately in the ITSM platform. Ensure clear issue descriptions, resolution steps, and time entries are recorded.
Escalation Escalate incidents that fall beyond the First-Line support scope to the Senior EUC Engineer. The handover should include steps already taken and any relevant diagnostic details.
Endpoint Management & Compliance Device Provisioning: Deploy, configure, and collect laptops, desktops, and peripherals according to standard procedures, Intune enrolment processes, and asset-tagging protocols.
Compliance Adherence: Operate within group endpoint compliance requirements. Do not modify device security settings, bypass Intune policies, or install unapproved software.
Security Triage Recognize and report endpoint security tool alerts (SentinelOne, Netskope) without directly acting on these platforms. Critical alerts should be escalated according to the documented runbook to the Senior EUC Engineer, who is responsible for the SecOps relationship.
Asset & Inventory Maintain the physical organization of the IT store, spare equipment, and peripheral inventory at the site. Flag low stock levels to the EUC Team Lead. Ensure all hardware movements are accurately tagged and recorded to support the site asset register.
Onboarding & Projects Onboarding Readiness: Prepare and deliver configured devices on or before a new employee's first day, adhering to the standard readiness checklist.
Project Support: Assist with device-refresh cycles, office moves, and bulk onboarding events under the direction of the Senior EUC Engineer and EUC Team Lead.
Continuous Improvement Knowledge Contribution: Capture resolution steps in the knowledge base and highlight recurring issues to the Senior EUC Engineer for root-cause analysis. Focus on fixing the underlying pattern, not just the ticket.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Educational & Professional Qualifications A Matric (Grade 12, NQF 4) is required. An IT Diploma (NQF 5 or above) is preferred. Learners completing a formal MICT SETA learnership may progress into this role based on demonstrated competence.
Technical Certifications CompTIA A+ or equivalent hardware/support certification is advantageous. Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900) is beneficial. CompTIA N+ and Security+ are advantageous but not required. ITIL Foundation is advantageous but not mandatory.
Technical Experience Support Background: 1–3 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or deskside support is preferred. Entry-level candidates with relevant qualifications and demonstrated aptitude will also be considered.
Microsoft Proficiency Practical troubleshooting experience with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) is required.
Apple Basics Awareness of managed macOS is essential. First-line triage and escalation of Mac issues to the Senior EUC Engineer is performed.
Endpoint Basics Basic exposure to any MDM/UEM platform (e.g., Intune) is required. This includes understanding device enrolment and compliance concepts.
Networking Basics Understanding of Wi-Fi connectivity, VPN client troubleshooting, and printer setup is necessary.
Process Adherence Ability to accurately follow provisioning checklists and asset-tagging processes. Familiarity with ITSM ticketing procedures is also advantageous.
Industry Knowledge Exposure to regulated environments, such as financial services or fintech sectors, is advantageous. Basic awareness of endpoint compliance and data-handling responsibilities (SOX-ITGC, POPIA) as they apply to device level is required.
Behavioural Competencies Customer-First Attitude: Approach every interaction with patience and a genuine desire to help.
Reliability: Consistency and punctuality are critical for frontline support.
Willingness to Learn: Actively develop technical skills and positively respond to feedback from senior staff.
Honest Escalation: Clearly acknowledge the limits of one's knowledge and escalate appropriately, rather than experimenting on production devices.
Professional Conduct Present professionally and demonstrate courtesy and respect towards employees, peers, and site visitors at all times.
Key Relationships Internal: - EUC Team Lead: Direct manager. - Senior EUC Engineer: Provides technical guidance, escalation, and mentoring. - Learners & Graduates: Support peer relationships and onboarding activities. - Site Employees: Primary service recipients. - HR / People & Culture: Coordinate new-employee device readiness.
External: - Technology Vendors: Limited to warranty swap-out coordination, managed under EUC Team Lead direction.
Note: Only shortlisted candidates are contacted.
