We are currently seeking a highly skilled Embedded Architect for our client to lead the technical architecture and long-term development of advanced telematics devices. The ideal candidate will engage deeply with the technology, integrating expertise in embedded software development, hardware evaluation, vehicle connectivity, security, and production engineering.
Key Requirements
- A Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electronic, Computer, or Electrical Engineering. - 5–10 years of relevant post-graduate experience in embedded systems. - At least 3 years of experience in a senior, lead, or architectural role. - Demonstrated contributions to at least two embedded products that have been produced in volume. - Expert proficiency in embedded C with substantial experience in C++. - Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M-class microcontrollers and embedded systems architecture. - Practical experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX. - In-depth knowledge of CAN, CAN FD, J1939, OBD-II, and UDS. - Experience with I²C, SPI, UART, USB, RS-232/485, and GPIO. - Experience integrating GNSS, accelerometers, IMUs, and cellular modems. - Understanding of LTE-M, NB-IoT, and/or Cat-1/4 connectivity. - Knowledge of TCP/IP, MQTT, TLS, SIM/eSIM provisioning, and network behavior. - Strong skills in hardware and firmware debugging. - Experience with Git, code reviews, CI, and static analysis. - A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required. - Valid South African work eligibility.
