Our client is in need of a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer with significant expertise in High Voltage (HV) engineering to spearhead the design, review, and execution of intricate electrical engineering projects. This position will offer the chance to provide technical leadership across substations, transmission, distribution networks, and HV infrastructure, from the inception of the project to its construction and commissioning.
**Key Responsibilities:** - Lead and implement HV electrical engineering designs for substations, switching stations, HV reticulation, and transmission and distribution networks. - Prepare, review, and approve engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation. - Ensure adherence to Eskom standards, the South African Grid Code, NRS, IEC, SANS, OHSA, and other applicable regulations. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians. - Liaise with clients, contractors, Eskom, consultants, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams. - Support feasibility studies, tender evaluations, technical assessments, and cost estimates. - Offer site-based engineering support including inspections, testing, commissioning, and project handover. - Identify technical risks and develop safe, practical, and cost-effective engineering solutions. - Ensure projects meet safety, quality, program, and budget requirements.
**Minimum Requirements:** - BTech, BEng, or BSc in Electrical Engineering. - 7–10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience. - Proven experience in HV engineering, specifically in substations, transmission and distribution networks, HV reticulation, and protection systems. - Experience delivering projects from design through construction and commissioning. - Strong exposure to construction and site-based engineering environments. - Sound knowledge of HV systems, protection, earthing, and applicable compliance standards. - ECSA Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration preferred.
