The Installation Assistant Technician role in Witbank supports the Installations Technician in installing alarm and security systems, including cabling, drilling, and connecting detectors. Main Purpose of Job: To support the Installations Technician in the installation of alarm system cabling, drilling, and connecting detectors to the panel. The role entails power-up and walk-test procedures for the system. A Technical Assistant at this level is suitably qualified and experienced (to the Company’s standards) to independently install alarm system cabling, as well as Intercom, CCTV & Access Control systems. This includes drilling, connecting detectors to the alarm control panel, and performing power-up and walk-test procedures without the assistance of a technician.
Duties: - Assist technician in installing alarm and security equipment - Remove old equipment from clients' premises - Run new cables, apply glue, drill holes, and mount detectors, panels, contacts, lights, etc. - Inform technician of any equipment or tool limitations and report necessary cabling requirements for installations - Support technician with user functions and conduct handovers - Clean vehicles and premises after installations
